Human rights are a luxury meant for the developed world, as the imperatives of development do not merit such complications in the developing world. Discuss.

Human rights require many institutional mechanisms and a State approach, which are well-suited for the rich and industrialised West, which we call the developed world. In emerging economies and countries, if the State starts focusing on human rights, it will be slowed down a lot and miss the prosperity train. Hence, it's best to wait for the right time and be developed, before imposing or ensuring human rights protection for all citizens.
