Population of India - An asset or a liability? Discuss.

Some say that the 1.4 billion population of India is an asset that leads to a certain demographic dividend. Others feel that in the absence of right education, nutrition, and employment, this "dividend" is nothing more than a "disaster". Meanwhile, the total fertility rate continues to plunge, and has now reached below the Replacement Fertility Rate (RFR). What do you think is the way ahead for India from here on?
