Communalism in politics is a one-way street. It only gets more intense, more extreme and more dangerous for the whole country.

Once religion and religious beliefs start forming the basis for politics in any country, then things start slipping. One group's extremism leads to another's, and the cycle rolls on. What suffers in the process is rational decision-making, and level-headed debate and solution finding. Violence becomes an integral part of the discourse. What is your opinion? Discuss with examples.
